Vintage 1973 Fender Stratocaster body and pickguard Routed Original finish
1966 Strat with original sunburst finish and rosewood neck. This guitar is a great player with a mixture of original and newer parts. It is a lightweight 7lbs 8 oz. There is a clean battery route in the back. The neck is a refinished small headstock with an 13 Oct 66 B stamp(*more on this described below). Here is a breakdown of the parts:
Neck plate and screws
2 pickup covers
Kluson double lines tuning keys
large frets (look orginal)
Van Zandt Pickups
Older Parchment pickguard and sheild
5 way CRL switch
*Regarding the neck:
It is a real Fender 65/66 strat neck, and I know Fender began using large headstocks in Dec of 65. I've read it has been documented that in 66, some leftover cut small headstock necks, that didn't pass QA at the time, were fixed, stamped and used when requested. I have seen two of these in my time. Otherwise, this neck was recut from a large headstock to a small headstock at the time of refinish. If so, it was a skilled professional or factory job.
The body has a forearm wear pattern and the usual amount of dings. It has a covered clean route in the back to house a battery or something. The control cavity wall has a shallow attempt to connect to the route, but not finished. Also, there is a small number/initials etching below the neck plate area. The red has faded some on the front. The body is highly resonant and the "target" sunburst looks great.
